No. 8 Limestone Women’s Lacrosse Ends LR’s Season With 15-6 Triumph

Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team (9-10) ended the 2018 regular season with a 15-6 setback to No. 8 Limestone (17-2) Saturday evening at Moretz Stadium in a non-conference regional contest.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•    Limestone's Courtney Lafler (Penn Yan, N.Y.) led all scorers with five goals while Shannon Sisk (Brooklin, Ontario, CANADA) added a score and six assists as the Saints won their 10th consecutive game.  Limestone also held a 35-14 advantage in shots taken.
•    Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore attacker Cathleen Gaffney (Allentown, Pa.) scored a pair of goals and added three assists in the losing effort.  Gaffney finished the year with a school-record 43 assists on the season.
•    In goal, Limestone's Jenna Haring (Irving, N.Y.) earned the victory after stopping six shots while senior Ines Flueck (Coppell, Texas) made nine saves but suffered the loss for Lenoir-Rhyne.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    Lenoir-Rhyne was playing its seventh nationally-ranked team this year.
•    Junior midfielder Rachel Elmore (White Plains, Md.) scored twice to finish with 52 goals on the year while Gaffney and junior attacker Gabby Sousa (Delran, N.J.) totaled a team-leading 76 points each on the year for the Bears.

UP NEXT:
Limestone is looking to secure a bid to the NCAA Division II Playoffs as the selection show is scheduled to take place on Sunday at 8:30 p.m.  The Saints are ranked No. 4 in the latest NCAA Division II South Region rankings.  LR claimed the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Championship for the first time ever.
