Abbie Brown netted a hat trick as the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team overpowered Newberry by a final score of 5-1 on Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference play. The hat trick now gives Brown six goals on the season which ranks her third in the league.

• Brown scored the first of five consecutive goals for the Bears in the 17
th minute off a cross from
Judith Verdaguer.
• After a score by
Maialen Herreros, Brown would score twice in a 10-minute span to complete the hat trick. Brown finished the match with seven shots and four shots on goal.
• In the 69
th minute,
Hannah Van Eerden found her first strike of the year off a penalty kick to push the lead to 5-0 before Newberry scored in the 86
th minute to prevent the clean sheet.
• Senior
Loren Sterling made three saves to improve the 4-2-1 on the season in goal.

• The Bears piled up 25 shots after firing 26 at Mars Hill in the game prior. After scoring four goals through the first five games, LR has erupted for nine goals and 51 total shots in their last two contests.

LR returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Tusculum for a 7 p.m. matchup. The game was scheduled to take place last weekend but was moved due to weather.
