Volleyball Suffers First Setback; Earns Split at Francis Marion

FLORENCE, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team swept Mount Olive on Saturday morning to improve to 7-0 but dropped the finale to host Francis Marion. 

GAME ONE:
Final: Lenoir-Rhyne 3, Mount Olive 0 (30-28, 25-10, 25-20)

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • The first set was a back-and-forth affair that featured nine ties and three lead changes before the Bears emerged. Helen Hamilton finished with 14 assists in the opening frame to help lead LR to the pivotal victory.
  • LR never trailed in the second set and hit .280 as a team to overpower UMO, 25-10.
  • For the second time this season, Taylor Walton led the Bears in kills. Walton finished with 11 kills and a .333 hitting percentage.

  • The Bears suffered their first setback of the year in this matchup. After winning the opening set, the Bears dropped three straight.
  • The eight-game winning streak to start the year was the longest since the 2009 Bears won 10 straight.
  • Taylor Prall posted a season-high 17 kills in the matchup, topping the previous high of 16 in the season-opener.
