Bears Comeback with Two Second Half Goals; Beat Catawba 2-1

Salisbury, N.C. – Catawba scored thirty seconds into the second half but the Bears battled back and scored twice in second half to comeback and beat the Indians 2-1.  Victor Cascon scored his 20th career goal to tie it at one then Luca Koelsch had the game-winner in the 71st minute.  Goncalo Garcia assisted on both goals for the Bears, Garcia now has assisted on four straight goals for the Bears dating back to Saturday's matchup with Newberry.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • Both teams had chances in the first half but neither team could find the net as it was a scoreless stanza. 
  • LR out shot the Indians 8-4 in the first half and had six corners compared to 0 for the Indians.
  • Catawba's Joseph Alleron struck less then a minute into the second half to put the Indians up 1-0.
  • Bears found the equalizer on a beautiful header by Cascon.
  • In the 71st minute, Koelsch scored the game-winning goal, an easy tap in from the front of the net.
  • Garcia set up both Cascon's and Koelsch's goal with perfect passes.  
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Today's win was Head Coach Jack Winter 40th win at Lenoir-Rhyne. His career record for the Bears is now 40-20-7
  • Bears are now 24-10-4 in SAC games under Winter. 
  • LR's second half goal ended their road goal-less streak at 239 minutes. 
  • Bears have now won five straight against the Indians, however Catawba still own the all-time record 21-18-4.
  • Cascon is five goals away from tying Aaron Wheeler (06-08) for fifth all-time in program history. 
  • Bears have now scored 13 of their 21 goals in the second half or overtime.
