Women's Basketball Gets First SAC Win of Year; Beats Lincoln Memorial 72-62

Harrogate, TN.--- Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball never trailed Wednesday night at Lincoln Memorial in a 72 to 62 win. Bears shot 47.3% from the field led by a career high 15 points from Kiara Moore.  The win snapped the Bears five game losing streak and it was their first SAC win of the year.

Stats of the Game:
  • Bears started fast to open the game. Bears shot 50% from the floor in the opening quarter (7-14) to take a 17-9 lead after one.
  • The second quarter saw both teams make a run. Lincoln Memorial started the quarter with a 7-2 run then the Bears counter with a 9-2 run. Bears scored on 17 of their 35 possessions in the first half to take 9 point half time lead. 
  • Third quarter saw the Bears hot shooting continued. Bears shot 53.3% from the floor to open a 53-36 lead. Kiara Moore and Hanna McClung had five points in the quarter. 
  • Bears shot 10-15 from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter to derail any comeback try by Lincoln Memorial. 
  • Bears had 5 players in double figures led by Kiara Moore 15 points. Karlie Bearden (14), Hanna McClung (11), Ashley Woodroffe (10) and Blair Barefoot (10) also had double figures for the Bears. 
  • Bears dominated the inside tonight, out-scoring Lincoln Memorial 34 to 14 with points in the paint. 
  • Karlie Bearden had her third career double double. Bearden had 12 rebounds to go with her 14 points. 
  • The Bears defense held Lincoln Memorial to just 30.2% shooting. Bears also forced 13 turnovers and only allowed 11 fast break points. 

Beyond the Box Score:
  • The last matchup between these team before tonight was a 58-55 win for the Bears at home on March 2, 2019. The game featured 8 ties and 12 lead changes. The Bears grabbed the lead for good on a field goal by Madi Suddreth with 1:20 to play.

  • LR next conference game won't be till Saturday January 4th, when the Bears will final return to home to play. 11 out of the Bears last 17 SAC games will take place at the Shu.
