HICKORY, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team spent their Saturday going head-to-head with the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets in a double header that the Bears won. Game one and two were vastly different as the home team ran away with game one, 14-4, and game two took 10 innings to decide as
Grant Fuller hit a walk off single to give the Bears the 7-6 win.

STATS OF GAME ONE:
• It was transfer
Paul Hall that shined on the mound for the Bears, throwing 5.1 innings of scoreless baseball with seven strikeouts while scattering seven hits and three free passes in the process. He earned his second win to improve to 2-1 on the season. Jacob Bradley took the loss for the Yellow Jackets as he gave up seven runs in 3.1 innings pitched.
Nolan Flachofsky worked 3.0 innings, earning himself his first save of the season.
• The offense was well-balanced for Lenoir-Rhyne with 10 different players getting hits in the game, but it was
Corbin Watson who had the hottest game at the plate going 4-for-5 with two runs batted in and two runs scored in the Bears' blowout win.
• The visitors were led by Christopher Jordan, Andrew Stone and Antonio Brown, each with two hits in the game. Stone, Connor Slagill, Matt Harrison and Brown each had one RBI.
STATS OF GAME TWO:
• The Bears had a quality outing from starter
Alex Shirazi as he worked 5.1 innings giving up three earned runs on five hits but threw 10 strikeouts.
Griffin Templeton earned the win in the final 1.0 inning he pitched but
Hunter Martin bridged that gap with 3.2 innings pitched. Stone, the hybrid second baseman and pitcher, took the loss for the Yellow Jackets, working 4.2 in relief and giving up four runs, one of which was the walk off hit by Fuller in the tenth inning.
• Two batters for the Bears had standout performances at the plate, Fuller, and
Aaron Stamper. Stamper went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. He accounted for five of the teams' seven runs. Fuller ended the day 4-for-5 as well with two runs scored and one run driven in.
• West Virginia State's Jordan led their team with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate while Stone Slagill and Mathew Kline added two hits each to the team's total.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Lenoir-Rhyne has now won its first two home games of the 2019 season and is winners of three-straight.
• This is the first double header sweep for LR since doing so at home against Newberry last season, 7-4 and 6-4.
• The Bears will go for the sweep tomorrow against the Yellow Jackets.
