Baseball Takes Care of Business on the Road, Extends Win Streak to Four Games

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team put up crooked numbers in the sixth and seventh innings that proved to be more than enough as the Bears took down the Benedict College Tigers on the road on Wednesday afternoon, 8-2, extending their winning streak to four games.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF GAME ONE:
•    LR broke out the big bats, hitting three doubles and a home run. Clayton Jeffries' time at the plate may have been the most impactful of the bunch as he went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and a walk earned. Aaron Stamper blasted a solo shot out of the park in the top of the seventh to give the Bears the 4-1 lead.
•    Brett Fulk got the starting nod for the Bears as he worked a season-long 7.0 innings, fanning nine Tigers batters while giving up just three hits and one run. Michael Allen and Griffin Templeton continued Lenoir-Rhyne's stretch of impressive bullpen work as they combined to work the final two innings, giving up just one hit and one run in the last two frames.
•    The Tigers only had four batters with a single base hit in the game. Javier Santiago stood out as he scored and drove in a run.
•    Grant Fuller sparked the Bears order by hitting first and scoring three runs for the Bears. He finished the day by adding a hit and one walk to his batting line.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    The Bears are riding a four-game winning streak, while the pitching staff has been equally impressive, giving up just three runs per game during the streak.
•    The Lenoir-Rhyne pitching staff has now given up just four hits in two straight games on the road while racking up double-digit hitting efforts for the bats in the Bears' lineup.
•    LR now owns a winning 7-5 record on the road.  
 
UP NEXT:
LR hits the road looking for a fourth straight win when they travel to Benedict on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
