COACHES TAKE
"We got off to a strong start in doubles and our energy was solid throughout today's match," said Head Coach
Tom Rees. "Credit to Tales who has not played much singles this spring coming off an injury and clinching in three sets today."
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears swept the doubles point, but it was not without a concerted effort, as it took
Rhodri Atkinson and
Tales Miranda a 7-6 battle to get the win from Nikita Parfenov and Toby Cutting on court one.
The Bears took games, sets and the match with relative ease, but it did not come without a hard-fought match in first singles as Miranda earned the win after falling in set one with tallies of 4-6, 7-5, 10-8.
Shane O'Dea gave incredible effort, but fell short on line No.4 to Cutting, 7-5, 5-7, 9-11.
