COACHES TAKE

"It was a good match for the ladies today," said Head Coach Tom Rees. "Belmont Abbey pushed us in spots that our ladies will be able to learn from and improve on moving forward. Thanks must go to the folks at Deer Valley for helping us get this match played on short notice."

HOW IT HAPPENED

As has been the custom this season, the Bears dominated in doubles play getting a clean sweep. In doubles competition this season, LR is an outstanding 31-2 including a perfect 11-0 in the second spot. Marta Escanero Funes and Lucy Whelan took a win in the first spot by a score of 6-3 and Diana Babinets and Gemma Southwick took a 6-1 decision in second doubles. Rounding out the sweep was a 6-2 victory by Iulia Ponomareva and Emily Murchland

It was more of the same in singles play with the Bears rebounding from a loss in first singles to win the rest of the spots. The clincher came from the number four position where Babinets took a 6-1, 6-0 win over Morgan Nguyen. Ally Garofoli outlasted Erica Dorn at the number five spot, winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 to go to 10-1 on the year.
