Fraga's Big Night Sends Lenoir-Rhyne Past Newberry

HICKORY, N.C.  – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team used a season-high four goals and three points from Anthony Fraga en route to a 15-6 victory over Newberry in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament Quarterfinal on Tuesday night. The win sets up a rematch of the 2018 SAC Tournament Championship game as the Bears take on Wingate on Friday.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•  Fraga netted a hat trick in the first quarter as the Bears ran out to an early 4-1 lead. The LR defense held Newberry scoreless in the second quarter and allowed just three total goals in the final 45 minutes of the game. 
•  Edward Tate also netted a hat trick for the Bears and added an assist. Ryan Bell finished with a goal and two assists and Joe Buduo had a pair of goals and a couple of assists. Buduo also netted his 140th career goal in the game. 
•  Lenoir-Rhyne outshot Newberry 46-34 and committed just 12 turnovers in the game. Conversely, Newberry turned the ball over 17 times and went 11-of-15 in clear attempts. 
•  Noah Johnson was outstanding in goal for the Bears as the freshman finished with 18 saves to earn the victory. 
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    Lenoir-Rhyne has won six straight and have held each of those opponents to six goals or less in that stretch. 
•    The Bears defeated Newberry 21-16 earlier in the season. Newberry earned their first SAC Tournament bid in the program's second year of existence.  
 
UP NEXT:
The Bears will travel to Wingate on Friday for a 4:30 p.m. faceoff against the Bulldogs.
