HICKORY, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team used five runs in the second, six in the third and five in the seventh to take care of business against the Benedict Tigers on Wednesday night in nonconference action, 16-4.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Eight different members of the Bears' lineup recorded a base hit, with
Clayton Jeffries (3-for-5),
E.J. Ranel (2-for-3) and
Alex Reynolds (2-for-4) leading the way with multiple base knocks on the day. Each of Ranel's hits went for extra bases with one being a triple and the other being his sixth long ball of the season.
• Lenoir-Rhyne had starter
Kain Kiser on a predetermined pitch count, but the freshman earned the win, going 4.0 innings with just one run allowed and striking out five.
Michael Allen worked 3.0 innings in relief and struck out six more while giving up just one run and two hits in the outing.
• The Tigers started Jacob Lagos, who took his second loss of the year as he worked 2.0 innings, giving up five runs on four hits and a walk.
• Benedict's leadoff hitter Michael Garner shined at the plate going 2-for-5 with a run batted in and one run scored while Javier Santiago also notched two base hits in four attempts, also driving in a run.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
• The Bears own a midweek record of 7-4 and improved their home mark to 7-13 on the year.
• Benedict put four arms on the mound and each gave up at least three runs in their appearances.
• LR stole four bases in the game, led by a pair of swipes from
Austin Reed.
