Anderson, S.C.-- Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Tennis garners their first conference win of the season, topping the Anderson Trojans 4-3 on the road Friday evening.
In doubles, Janssen/Southwick were able to get the lone win and start the match off for LR defeating Greer/Curcic 6-1. Trojans would then take two doubles matches giving them the lead 1-0.
On the singles side,
Gemma Southwick started hot, defeating Greer 6-1,7-5 in No.1 singles to tie the match 1-1. The Anderson Trojans then went on a 2-0 run winning in No.2 singles 6-0,7-6 and No.3 singles 6-1,6-3. Lenoir-Rhyne would close out strong winning the next three matches to retake the lead in the match 4-3.
Lucy Whelan defeated Pleasant 6-2,6-2.
Diana Babinets then defeated Weaver 6-4,6-3. Closing things out in singles was
Sanne Janssen defeating Blanchard 6-2,6-4.
The Bears now move to 5-2 and 1-0 in conference play.
The Bears will be back in action at home on Tuesday, March 3 against Limestone.
