Men's Basketball Can't Halt Railsplitters Winning Streak

Box Score HICKORY, N.C. --- The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team couldn't stop No. 2 Lincoln Memorial's winning streak as the Railsplitters won their 22nd consecutive game. The Bears played with LMU for most of the night before the guests came away with a 90-78 victory on Wednesday night inside Shuford Gym to stay unbeaten in league play.

Stats of the Game:
  • The Bears led at the break by a score of 37-36, marking the first halftime deficit for LMU since trailing 36-35 to Kentucky Wesleyan on December 22. 
  • Zim Fields came off the bench to pour in 17 points including a highlight reel dunk. R.J. Gunn added 21 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double. 
  • The duo of Courvoisier McCauley and Devin Whitfield combined for 51 points. Whitfield (25pts, 13reb) was one of two Railsplitters to notch double-doubles as Cameron Henry went for 13 points and 17 rebounds.  
  • The Bears held LMU to 41.1 percent shooting in the first half but the Railsplitters exploded for 54 second-half points and shot 59.3 percent from the field. 
  • Tyson McClain added 10 points for LR and grabbed six boards. 
Beyond the Box Score:
  • The Bears beat Lincoln Memorial inside the Shu in 2019, coming away with an 85-83 win on Senior Day. 
  • With the win, LMU has a five game lead in the league standings with seven games left to play. 
  • LMU sweeps the season series thanks to a 97-77 win over LR in December. In that game, McCauley exploded for a career-high 44 points.
  • The Bears drop back under .500 in SAC play for the first time since January 15 when they were 4-5. 
  • The Bears drop to 4-4 at home in the season. LR is 7-5 away from home.
