Strong Second Half Propels No. 5 Lenoir-Rhyne Past Assumption

HICKORY, N.C. – The No. 5 Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team held Assumption to three goals in the second half and came away with a 17-12 victory over the Greyhounds on Tuesday evening. Mason Pierrotti and Myles Moffat each registered hat tricks and Noah Johnson made 17 saves on the evening as LR won its fourth straight game.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Moffat got the scoring started just 18 seconds into the contest as LR ran out to a quick 3-0 advantage. Assumption would answer with five of the next six goals to take a 5-4 lead. 
• A high-scoring first quarter saw the visitors come away with a 6-5 lead. The scoring pace kept up in the second quarter as LR scored six more times to take an 11-9 lead into the break. Torron Eccleston's goal with three seconds left in the half put the Bears up two. 
• The defenses tightened in the second half, especially LR's. The Bears held Assumption off the scoreboard for the first 13:58 of the second half before a pair of quick goals from the visitors to end the third quarter. 
• Assumption outshot LR 32-22 in the first half but were held to just 19 shots in the final 30 minutes. 
• LR won 17 of 32 face offs on the night with Noah Flasch going 14-of-25. 
Jared Mabarak caused four turnovers for LR and Tyler Bane added two CTs. 
Eric Dickinson had two goals and three assists to lead LR with five points. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• The Bears have scored 17 or 18 goals in each of the past three games. LR's 15.57 goals per game leads the SAC. 
• With his three goals today, Moffat is tied for the league lead with 23 on the year. 
• The Bears are 48-22 all-time in the month of March.  
• LR is a perfect 5-0 at home on the year. 

UP NEXT:  The Bears enter South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday when Newberry comes to Moretz Stadium for a 1 p.m. face off.
