Women's Soccer Dominates Mars Hill 5-0

MARS HILL, N.C. - Freshmen Evan O'Leary and Leonie Proessl each scored two goals for their sixth and seventh goals of the year each, and the Lenoir-Rhyne women's soccer team eased their way to 5-0 win on the road at Mars Hill on Wednesday night. Allie Zueger added the last goal to round out the scoring for the Bears, and Grayson Cameron notched her second straight clean sheet.

STATS OF THE MATCH: 
  • The Bears out-shot the Lions 21-2. Mars Hill did not record a shot in the first half, and the Bears led 3-0 at the break.
  • O'Leary's first goal came in the 5th minute, the second time this year the Bears have scored in the first 10 minutes of a game. 
  • Mars Hill was only able to muster one shot on goal, which Cameron stopped.
  • The Bears did not allow Mars Hill one corner kick the entire game. 
  • For the first time all year, a Bear did not receive a yellow card in the game.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • This was LR's 15th straight win against Mars Hill. The last time the Lions defeated the Bears was in 2006. 
  • Proessl and O'Leary are tied for the team lead in goals with seven.
  • O'Leary's first goal was assisted by Stephanie Figueiredo, and her second goal was assisted by Zueger. 
  • With the win, LR is now alone in second place in the SAC behind Catawba. 
UP NEXT: The Bears hit the road north for Greeneville, Tenn. to take on Tusculum on a rare Sunday afternoon game. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
