MILLEDGEVILLE, GA. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team split a pair of five setters in day one of the SAC/Peach Belt Crossover on Friday afternoon. The Bears dropped a 3-2 decision to Augusta to start the day but rebounded to survive an upset bid from Georgia College in the finale.
GAME ONE:
Final: Augusta 3, Lenoir-Rhyne 2
Records: Lenoir-Rhyne (11-5), Augusta (13-5)
STATS OF THE MATCH:
- For the second straight match, the Bears fell behind in the first set and rallied back. Trailing 20-14 and 24-20, the Bears scored three straight to make it 24-23 but Augusta would get the decisive point to go up 1-0.
- LR dominated the second set, holding Augusta to a -.194 hitting percentage and 11 attack errors on their way to a 25-11 blowout win.
- Augusta took the third set 26-24 and the Bears took set four 25-19 to force a fifth set which was all Augusta who won 15-5.
- Rachel Bewick had 27 digs in the match and Ashley Hawkins added a season-high 22 digs. Braelyn Faust led the Bears with 12 kills and hit .290.
- LR had a the third-most aces in a match (9) led by three from Hawkins.
GAME TWO:
Final: Lenoir-Rhyne 3, Georgia College 2
Records:Lenoir-Rhyne (12-5), Georgia College (8-16)
STATS OF THE MATCH:
- Lenoir-Rhyne breezed to wins of 25-12 and 25-14 in the first two sets but the Bobcats would rally to take sets three and four 25-20.
- LR would hit .227 in the fifth set and defeated the hosts 15-10.
- Taylor Prall led the Bears with 18 kills and Hawkins pitched in a career-high 17. Colette Romp had 12 kills and hit .355
- Helen Hamilton handed out 32 assists and Bewick added 23 more digs. Prall (23 digs) and Hawkins (18 digs) recorded double-doubles.

The Bears will continue the SAC/Peach Belt Crossover tomorrow as the challenge shifts to USC Aiken. LR takes on Lander at 11 a.m. and then takes on the hosts at 5 p.m.
