ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Football Players of the Week for games played during the ninth week of the 2021 season and Lenoir-Rhyne linebacker Jon Ross Maye was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Maye, a redshirt freshman from Johns Creek, Ga., had five tackles, a pass break-up, and an interception for a touchdown in the Bears' 31-6 win over No. 16 Wingate last week. His interception sealed the victory for Lenoir-Rhyne in the fourth quarter as he deflected a pass and then caught it himself, taking it 50 yards for the touchdown.

This is the first Defensive Player of the Week award this season for Maye who won a Defensive Player of the Week awards in the spring.
