Young Harris, GA --The Lenoir Rhyne Men's Soccer team suffered a 3-2 loss in double overtime to No. 19 Limestone in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon.
Carles Montoliu Lobo and
Jaime Poza scored for the Bears but the Saints scored with 57 seconds left in the second overtime to send Limestone to the second round.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
- The first half saw four goals, two by each team. Limestone jumped on the board early in the 2nd minute from a goal by Tristyn Leaf.
- The Bears got the first equalizer of the half with a pass by Dani Fernandez about 30 yards downfield and Montoliu Lobo chipped it over Saints goalkeeper to tie it at one.
- Laaf struck again with a goal off his left foot that floated over Juan Basabe to give the Saints the lead again.
- With exactly one minute left in the half, Noah Tiefel crossed it over to Poza for the Bears second equalizer of the half.
- The first half saw six shots by each team. Conversely, the second half, which was scoreless, saw only a total of six shots.
- Both teams had great chances for the golden goal in the first two minutes of overtime. Laaf had a shot 64 seconds into the overtime but Basabe made the save as the Bears went on the counter-attack Tiefel had a shot in the box after a Saints defender slipped but Hipper made the save. Later in the period, Basabe made another game-saving stop to keep the game going.
- After a near-miss off a corner kick, the Saints got the game-winner on their tenth corner kick of the game with just 57 seconds left in the second overtime period. Laaf stuck the ball right to Drechsler off the corner and Drechsler tapped it into the goal to advance Limestone to the second round.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Bears move to 2-3-1 in NCAA Tournament games.
- This was the Bears second overtime NCAA Tournament game. The Bears lost in PK's to Lincoln Memorial in the second round of the 2006 NCAA Tournament.
- Today was the first time outside of the Carolinas for an NCAA Tournament game for LR.
- Ten corner kicks by the Saints, were the most for a Bears opponent in a game since Shaw had 12 in a game on October 24, 2018.
