Hickory, N.C. - After a quick turnaround from Saturday afternoon loss against Tusculum, the Lenoir-Rhyne women's basketball team rebounded to defeat Newberry 73-61 in their third home game in the last six days.
Emily Harman scored 17 of her game-high 24 points in the second half and
Brandi Hudson added 18 points as the Bears finished 2-1 on the home-stand.

STATS AND INFO:
- The home team has now won the last six games in the series including four straight for the Bears in Hickory.
- The Bears entered the game first in the conference in free throw percentage at 77.9% while the Wolves were last at 62.0%. Harman leads the conference and is seventh in the nation at 93.8%.
- With her first basket in the second half, Harman scored her 400th career point in just her 27th career game.
- 73 points is a season high for the Bears so far this year .
FIRST HALF:
- The Bears controlled the first half as the Wolves' last lead was 4-2 early in the first quarter.
- After Newberry cut the lead to eight at 29-21, the Bears scored the last seven points of the half to take a 15-point lead into the intermission.
- Despite shooting 62.0% from the free throw line on the season, the Wolves shot 10 for 10 from the charity stripe in the first half. However, Newberry shot 5-24 from the floor including a 2-14 in the first quarter.
- LR on the other hand shot 43.3% from the floor including 3-10 from deep.
- Hudson led all scorers with a dozen at the break while adding a pair of assists, rebounds and steals.
SECOND HALF:
- After a Mallory Sherrill layup with 5:29 left in the third, the Bears opened their biggest lead of the game and the season at 51-23.
- The Bears outscored the Wolves 22-12 in the third quarter, shooting 50% from the floor.
- The Wolves made a 22-9 run to start the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 67-55 with 2:44 lead. The Wolves were 7-9 from three in the quarter including three makes by Courtney Virgo.
- After a three by Newberry's Ella Pearson cut the lead to a dozen, Emily Harman hit a running jump shot and then found Brandi Hudson under the basket on back-to-back possessions to get the lead back to 16 with 1:40 left. Two three's by Newberry's Giulia Bongiorno were too late as the Bears held on for the 12-point win.
ABOUT THE BEARS:
- Harman scored 17 of her game-high 24 in the second half while adding in six rebounds, five assists and five steals in 35 minutes of action.
- Hudson added 18 points, five rebounds and a career-high four steals while shooting 8-13 from the floor.
- Sophomore Blaikley Crooks also stuffed the box score, scoring five points while adding career high in rebounds (6 )and assists (6).
- The Bears tied a season high with 11 steals on the afternoon, which marked the third straight game with at least 10 plus steals.
NOTABLE WOLVES:
- Virgo hit all five of her three-pointers in the second half to finish with 15 points to lead the Wolves.
- Bongiorno and Ericka Wiseley added 14 points each for Newberry.
- The Wolves finished 16-19 from the line for 84% their best mark of the season.
