Florence, S.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Tennis team swept Francis Marion 7-0 Wednesday afternoon.

The day started off with doubles matches where LR took a quick (1-0) lead. Rhodri Atkinson and Josh Lazenby made quick work of Guerrero/Gonzalez 6-3. Mauricio Hernandez and Nicolas Moser continued the momentum defeating Anth-Forsberg/Ernberg 6-4. Lewis Scott and Patrik Alvestrand closed things out in doubles winning 6-4 over Bodson/ Schaefer.

In singles, Alvestrand started the run for LR defeating Bodson 6-0,6-0 (2-0). Moser followed the trend, winning his first collegiate match 6-3,6-0 over Ernberg (3-0). Scott didn't let up for LR adding to the lead winning 6-3,6-3 (4-0). Lazenby defeated Guerrero 6-2,6-2 to put LR (5-0) and secure the victory. Hernandez kept the momentum going beating Gonzalez 6-3,6-3 (6-0). Atkinson closed out the day coming from behind to defeat Anth-Forsberg 3-6,6-1,6-3 to complete the sweep (7-0). Atkinson is now on a six match winning streak dating back to least season.

Head Coach Jesse Tarr shared his thoughts on today's match.

"Really proud of our teams today," Tarr said. "With almost a year lay off, we may not have played our very best tennis, but we were tough and completed great against a solid Francis Marion team."

The Bears will be back in action Sunday February 21st on the road against Lander.
