Andrew Patrick threw the first no-hitter for the Bears since 1997 as the Bears defeated #8 Catawba 4-0 in game one but Catawba scored nine runs in the last two innings to come back and earned the spilt in game two. Patrick was sharp from the start as he retired the first twelve Indians before hitting Cameron Morrison with a pitch to lead off the fifth. Patrick then would work around two walks in the seventh before getting pitch-hitter Dylan Wilkerson to pop up to short to complete the no-hitter.

STATS OF GAME ONE:
- Patrick was of course the story of game one. Patrick did not allow a hit and only surrendered three walks while striking out six. Patrick retired the first twelve hitters on the day and did not allow a baserunner in five of the seven innings.
- Drue Galassi's hot bat carried over from yesterday. Galassi hit his third homerun of the series in the bottom of the 1st to gave the Bears a 2-0 lead.
- Connor Smith added a run with an homerun to left in the 4th for his second homerun on the year.
- Indians did not get their first baserunner unitl the 5th inning when Patrick hit Cameron Morrison and Zack Miller and walked Joe Butts but then Patrick struck out the side to get out of the threat.
- Bryce Stober went 2-3 with an rbi for the Bears in his first action of the season.
STATS OF GAME TWO:
- Catawba told advantage of two LR errors in the top of the 4th and then broke the 0-0 tie with a Jeremy Simpson sac-fly to gave them the 1-0 lead.
- EJ Ranel tied it up with a solo shot in bottom of the 5th. It was Ranel first of the year and 8th of his career.
- Connor Smith laid down a perfect bunt to open the 6th then came around to score on Mike McHugh double to gave the Bears a 2-1 lead.
- Bears starter Joshua Lanham was excellent, throwing seven innings allowing just one unearned run while striking out eight Indians but got the no decision.
- After Lanham left, the Indians had seven hits, four walks and nine runs in the last two innings off the Bears bullpen.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The Bears last no-hitter was by Todd Setzer on February 22, 1997 against Tusculum.
- With a spilt today, Catawba is now 23-2 in their last 25 games dating back to last year with both loses coming from the Bears.
- Entering today, Nick Clarno had scored a run in each of the first four games for the Bears. Clarno caught the first four games before getting the start at third today in game 1.
- In game 2 today, We had a matchup against last weeks SAC pitcher of the week Joshua Lanham and SAC player of the week Hunter Sheperd. Lanham held Sheperd without a hit today in three at-bats including get Sheperd to fly out with the bases loaded in the fifth.
- Bears hit eight home runs in the four game series this weekend.
- Bears starting pitching this weekend threw 26 innings and only allowed three earned runs for a 1.04 ERA.
