Women's Basketball Season Ends in SAC Tourney

Gaffney S.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team took a two point lead into halftime in the first round of the SAC Tournament but Limestone used a big second half to end the Bears season with a 63-49 loss. Kennedy Weigt led the Bears with 12 points in the season finale.

STATS AND INFO:
-Today's game was Limestone's first SAC Tournament game, The Saints joined the SAC this year after their long run in Conference Carolinas.
-Three of the five Bears starters did not even play in the first matchup. Nakia Hooks, Alyssa Wagner and Ashley Woodroffe were all unavailable for the earlier game this season.
-The Bears fall to 1-7 in their last eight SAC tournament games. 

FIRST HALF:
-LR's defense held Limestone to 10% shooting (1-10) in the first quarter but could not take advantage as the Bears shot 21% themselves.
-After the first quarter ended at eight apiece, the Bears went on an 8-0 run to start the second quarter. A three by Kennedy Weigt then five straight points from Emily Harman pushed LR ahead. The Bears opened three eight-point leads but each time the Saints came right back with 6-0 runs and then cut the halftime lead to two. 
-Harman and Weigt had 10 points each in the half. The duo was 4-8 from long range in the half. 

SECOND HALF:
-The third Quarter was all Saints as they used a 24-10 run to open a 12 point lead after thirty minutes of play. The Saints shot 69% from the floor in the quarter including 3-3 from long range. 
-The fourth quarter was back-and-forth but as soon as the Bears cut the led to ten, the Saints went on a 5-0 run to end the Bears chances at the comeback.
-The Bears were held to seven field goals in the half and went 1-7 from long range.
-LR did have the advantage on the glass 38-29 but the Bears committed three more turnovers on the afternoon. 

ABOUT THE BEARS:
-Emily Harman finished one rebound away from a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
-The Bears outscored the Saints 19-3 from the bench but the LR bench players shot 7-28 from the field. 
-Hanna McClung returned after an 11-game absence. McClung went scoreless but added an assist in her eleven minutes of action. 
-With two three-pointers today, Weigt will finish her career with 198 three-pointers, most in school history. 

NOTABLE SAINTS:  
-Reagan McCray lead all scorers with 21 points. McCray shot 7-10 from the floor in her 39 minutes of action.
-Quin Byrd finished one assist away from a double-double with 11 points and 9 assists. 
-Limestone will now head to #3 Catawba in Quarterfinal action on Monday.
