Women's Lacrosse Falls to Young Harris

Young Harris, Ga--The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team fell to Young Harris 20-17 on the road on Friday afternoon. Michelle Tang had a career-high five goals for the Bears while Cathleen Gaffney had three goals and a season-high four assists for LR. 

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF THE GAME:
-The first ten minutes of the half saw back-and-forth action with neither team getting up by more then one goal. After the Bears took a 3-2 lead, the Mountain Lions scored the next five goals to take a 7-3 lead halfway through the first half. 
-The Bears then cut the lead to 7-5 with back-to-back goals from Ellie Campbell and Michelle Tang in a 1:41 span. 
-The Mountain Lions closed the half scoring three of the last four goals to take an 11-8 lead into halftime. 
-After Kaitlyn Cavanaugh scored the first two goals of the second half to cut the lead to 11-10, Young Harris went on a 4-0 run to open their biggest lead at 15-10.
-LR cut the lead to 16-14 and 19-17 but the Mountain Lions were too much late and came way with the 20-17 win. 
-Young Harris held a 29-10 lead in draw controls in the contest and outshot the Bears 39-28.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
-In last years matchup, the Bears came back from a halftime deficit to edge the Mountain Lions 13-12. Gaffney's second goal of the game was the game winner for the Bears.
-With Young Harris' win today, it marks their first win ever against the Bears as LR leads the all-time series 2-1 now.  
-With 13 saves today, Teanna Sieben is now in second in the SAC in saves with 38. 
-Cavanaugh's four goals makes her the first Bear to score double-digit goals this year as she leads the team with eleven goals through the first four games. 

UP NEXT:  Bears will return to SAC play on March 20th against #6 Queens.
