Women's Soccer Wins Battle Over Tusculum 2-1

Hickory, N.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team pulled out a gutsy win as Ria Acton's two clutch penalty kick goals in the second half erased a 1-0 deficit and kept the #23 Bears unbeaten on the season.

STATS OF THE MATCH: 
  • The match started off with an early goal from Tusculum's Tina Haig in the first minute of the match. 
  • The Pioneers would hold a firm 1-0 lead for 60 minutes of the match, outshooting the Bears 5-4 in that span.
  • Scarlett Kelly drew a penalty kick in 64' which led to a PK equalizer from Acton.
  • LR wasn't finished as Allie Zueger drew the second penalty kick in the box 10 minutes later. Acton stepped up again and calmly knocked in her second PK of the game, making the score 2-1.
  • LR earned more corner kicks than Tusculum 7-4.
  • Grayson Cameron collected six saves on the match.
  • Tusculum led the game in fouls 12-8

  • Lenoir-Rhyne has now won the last four straight against Tusculum.
  • The Bears now still sit in first place in their pod.
