MARS HILL, N.C. --
Kylee Leonhardt tied the game with a solo homerun with one out in the top of the seventh before the Bears scored twice in the 9th to get a 5-4 win to sweep Mars Hill on Saturday. In game one, the Bears hit four homer uns including two from
Leanna Sherrill to get the 10-2 win.

STATS OF GAME ONE:
- LR wasted no time in jumping on the Lions as the Bears scored four runs in the first. Six of the first seven Bears reached base in the inning and Kylee Leonhardt, Lauren Rakes, Lora Beth Wood and Leanna Sherrill all drove in runs.
- Sherill then connected on her first homerun of the season, a solo shot in the third.
- Mars Hill responded with a two-run homerun from Ashley Evans to cut the lead to 5-2.
- After the Lions cut the lead to three, the Bears played long ball as Talon LaClair, Sherrill and Leonhardt all homered to finish the victory at 10-2.
- Rakes went the distance in the circle with ten strikeouts to get her fourth victory of the year. It is Rakes third game this year with at least ten strikeouts.
- Sherrill finished game one 3-4 with 2 HR's and 3 RBIs, It was Sherrill's first multi-homer game and her second career three hit game.
STATS OF GAME TWO:
- Leonhardt's fourth hit of the afternoon was an RBI single that got the Bears on the board 1-0 in the 3rd.
- Lora Beth Wood then connected for her third homerun of the season in the 4th to give the Bears a 2-0 lead.
- Evans hit her second homer of the day to gave the Lions their first lead of the day at 3-2 in the bottom of the 6th.
- With one out in the Top 7th, Leonhardt tied the game at three with her sixth homerun of the season.
- After the Bears failed to score in the top of the 8th, The Lions had a runner on third with one out but Rakes got out of the jam with two strikeouts to force the game to the 9th.
- Cherise Cowoski's double and then a single by Hannah Jennings got the Bears the lead for good as they held on for the 5-4 win.
- Mars Hill did have the tying run on third and the winning run on second in the bottom of the 9th with no outs but Rakes got two strikeouts then a fly ball to left to end the game.
- Morgan Beeler got the start and went six innings in the no decision while striking out seven. Rakes came in relief to pick up her second win of the day. Rakes went three innings while striking out six.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Two of the top five strikeout pitchers faced off in game 1. Mars Hill's Marissa Adame leads the SAC with 10.96 strikeouts per seven innings while Lauren Rakes is 5th at 8.72 per seven innings.
- Lenoir-Rhyne entered today's game with 40 extra bases but no triples so far on the season. The Bears had 30 doubles and 10 homeruns heading into action today.
- With the sweep of the Lions today, LR has now won 15 straight games against Mars Hill.
- Sherrill's homers in game one were her seventh and eighth career home runs for the junior.
- Leonhardt's 34th and 35th career homerun moves her to 4th place in team history.
- LR moves to 2-2 in extra innings this season.
