Hickory, N.C.- The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team scored two runs in the seventh inning to force extra innings and won it in the bottom of the 8th on
Hannah Jennings RBI double to give the Bears a 6-5 win against visiting UVA-Wise. In the nightcap, a trio of Bears had three hits and
Kylee Leonhardt homered to earn the 8-3 win.

STATS OF GAME ONE:
- The game stayed scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when freshman Payton Bryant hit her first career homerun, a two-run shot to give the Bears a 2-0 lead.
- After two total runs in the first six innings, the teams combined for six runs in a wild 7th inning.
- With two on and one out in the top half, UVA-Wise went to their bench and Katie Russell delivered with a three-run homer to give the Cavaliers their first lead of the day.
- With an insurance run added, the Cavaliers scored four runs on three hits in the seventh inning after having only three hits in the first six innings.
- In the bottom of the inning, the Bears also started their rally with one out. A Savannah Moorefield single followed by a Kylee Leonhardt triple got the Bears within one then Talon LaClair tied it up with a single.
- For the second straight game, the Bears walked it off. This time with two outs in the bottom of the 8th, Jennings drove in Kory Hammett from first for the win.
- Morgan Beeler (5-0) got the win in relief throwing 1 2/3 innings and allowing two hits and striking out two.
STATS OF GAME TWO:
- LR did not waste any time scoring three times in the bottom of the first. Moorefield, LaClair, Lora Beth Wood and Jennings all record hits while LaClair and Jennings drove in a run for a 3-0 lead early on.
- Kendall Osborne with a two-run single on a 0-2 pitch gave the Bears a 5-0 lead in the 3rd.
- UVA-Wise got two runs right back with a two-run homer from Alexis Miles.
- A two-out, two-strike RBI single by UVA-Wise's Riley Hunt cut the Bears lead to two with four outs left.
- Leonhardt's 8th home run of the year, a three-run blast, put the game away in the bottom of the 6th
- Beeler started and went 3 1/3 innings before giving way to Rakes in the circle. Rakes (6-3) picked up the win going 3 2/3 innings while striking out five.
- Moorefield, LaClair and Wood all had three hits in the game.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Wood entered today was hitting .500 with 3 HR's and 6 RBIs in her last five games.
- Wood has at least one RBI in five straight games before the streak ending in game one.
- With multiple-hit games in both games, LaClair now has 50 career multi-hit games in her career.
- Leonhardt's triple in the bottom of the 7th of game one was the Bears' first triple of the year.
- With a win today, Beeler is now 14-1 in her first 15 decisions in the circle as a Bear.
- Bears have played four straight home games with four more to go before heading back on the road next Friday.
