HICKORY, N.C. – The No. 6 Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team broke the record for most goals in a game with 27 as they cruised past Mars Hill on Saturday night. With the win, the Bears clinched the fifth regular-season SAC Championship in program history.

Gabe Smith each recorded a hat trick for the Bears. For Smith, it was the first career hat trick and came on just four shots.

• Lenoir-Rhyne exploded for 20 goals in the first 22 minutes of the game and held a 20-1 advantage in the middle of the second quarter.
• LR held a 61-27 advantage in shots and a 39-15 edge in shots on goal.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• 17 different players scored a goal in the game for LR
• The Bears celebrated Senior Day prior to face-off.
• LR claims the solo SAC championship and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament thanks to a 9-1 league record compared to Wingate's 8-1 mark. The Bulldogs were unable to play Tusculum at the end of the season due to the Pioneers being in a COVID shutdown.
• This is the seventh win by double-digits by LR this season and the sixth game of at least 20 goals.
UP NEXT: The Bears will look to the SAC Tournament. LR will host the league tourney and will play the winner of Newberry and Tusculum on Friday at 11 a.m.
