LR Breaks Scoring Record and Clinches Regular Season SAC Championship

HICKORY, N.C. –  The No. 6 Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team broke the record for most goals in a game with 27 as they cruised past Mars Hill on Saturday night. With the win, the Bears clinched the fifth regular-season SAC Championship in program history.

STATS OF THE GAME:
Myles Moffat and Gabe Smith each recorded a hat trick for the Bears. For Smith, it was the first career hat trick and came on just four shots.
Zach Swanson, Eric Dickinson, Toron Eccleston, Brandon Webster, Colby Lensing and Jack Dickinson each added two goals.
• Eric Dickinson led the Bears with four assists and six points. 
Ben Jauch had a game-high four caused turnovers for LR and added three ground balls. 
• Five different players combined to win 28 of 39 face-offs on the night led by Patrick Sullivan's 8-of-9. 
• Lenoir-Rhyne exploded for 20 goals in the first 22 minutes of the game and held a 20-1 advantage in the middle of the second quarter.
• LR held a 61-27 advantage in shots and a 39-15 edge in shots on goal.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• 17 different players scored a goal in the game for LR
• The Bears celebrated Senior Day prior to face-off. 
• LR claims the solo SAC championship and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament thanks to a 9-1 league record compared to Wingate's 8-1 mark. The Bulldogs were unable to play Tusculum at the end of the season due to the Pioneers being in a COVID shutdown. 
• This is the seventh win by double-digits by LR this season and the sixth game of at least 20 goals.

UP NEXT:  The Bears will look to the SAC Tournament. LR will host the league tourney and will play the winner of Newberry and Tusculum on Friday at 11 a.m.
