Kodak, Tenn.--The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team saw its late rally falls short as the Bears lost to Coker 4-2 in the first round of the 2021 SAC Pilot Flying J Baseball Championship held at Smokies Stadium in Kodak, Tennessee.Â

STATS OF GAME:Â
- Coker's Jackson Williams got the Cobras on the board first with a two-run homerun in the second. The homerun was initial ruled as a run scoring double then was switched to a homerun after an umpires discussion. The play was then reviewed by replay and was upheld to give Coker the early 2-0 lead.
- Cory Listing gave the Cobras the 4-0 lead with a two-run, two-out double down the third base line in the third inning.Â
- Alex Sharazi (4-4) got the start for the Bears but only lasted two plus innings allowing the four runs.
- Coker's Aaron Mitchell (3-0) went eight innings to get the win for Coker allowing only the one run.Â
- Joshua Lanham came in relief for the Bears and threw six innings, only giving up two hits and struck out eleven Cobras.
- Drue Galassi got the Bears on the board with a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the 8th.
- Bears rally came up a little short in the 9th. Bryce Stober's RBI single got the Bears within 4-2 with the tying runs on base with one out but Cobras retired Wade Cuda and Galassi to end the game.Â
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- This was the first time these two teams have meet in the conference tournament.
- Bears now have lost nine straight SAC tournament games.
- LR's last win in the SAC Tournament was a 13-3 win against Newberry on April 21, 2006.
- 20 years ago today was the Bears last SAC Tournament Championship. The Bears defeated Carson-Newman twice that day to capture the 2001 SAC Tournament.Â
- Galassi's homerun was his 15th, which leads the SAC.Â
- With eleven strikeouts on the night, Lanham finishes the year with 90 strikeouts.
