Men's Lax Winning Streak Broken by No. 6 Wingate

HICKORY, N.C.  –   The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team saw a 13 game overall win streak and an 11 game winning streak against South Atlantic Conference opponents broken in a one-goal loss against Wingate on Wednesday night. 

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: No. 6 Wingate 16, No. 4 Lenoir-Rhyne 15
Records: Lenoir-Rhyne (9-1, 7-1 SAC), Wingate (10-1, 8-1 SAC)

STATS OF THE GAME:
Mitchell Linklater scored just 52 seconds into the game and Tommy Aguilar gave the Bears a 2-1 lead at the 12:44 mark of the first quarter
• Wingate would answer with a 5-1 run to take a 6-3 lead after the first quarter
• The Bulldog lead swelled to 16-10 with a goal two seconds before the end of the third quarter
• LR mounted a huge rally in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 5-0 in the final quarter
• A Myles Moffat goal at the 7:38 mark made it a five-goal advantage for Wingate before a furious late LR rally saw them score four goals in the final 3:06 including three in a 38-second span
• Down one, the Bears had the ball with 11 seconds left but a bounce shot was saved and the Bulldogs held on for the victory
Noah Johnson made 16 saves for Lenoir-Rhyne and kept the Bears close throughout the game with plenty of clutch saves

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• This broke the Bears 13-game home winning streak as well as a five-game winning streak over ranked opponents
• Prior to tonight, the Bears hadn't trailed in the fourth quarter all season long
• Bobby Padden had six goals for Wingate, the most allowed by LR in a game this season
• Moffat had a season-high five assists
• Dickinson scored four goals and the trio of Kyle Hatcher, Bryce Reese and Tommy Aguilar all had two
• Wingate won 19 of 34 face offs 

UP NEXT:  The Bears are back in action Friday when they host Lincoln Memorial at 7 p.m.
