HICKORY, N.C. – For the first time in program history, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team is heading to the NCAA Division II National Championship Game thanks to an 18-10 win over Wingate in the Regional Final on Sunday afternoon. The men's lax team joins the 2013 Football squad as the only two LR programs to advance to the National Championship game in the NCAA era.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: No. 2 Lenoir-Rhyne 18, No. 5 Wingate 10
Records: Lenoir-Rhyne (15-1), Wingate (12-3)
Location: Moretz Stadium

STATS OF THE GAME:
  • Senior Eric Dickinson led Lenoir-Rhyne with six goals on the afternoon and became just the sixth player in Division II history to reach 200 goals. Dickinson came in with 196 and netted number 200 early in the second half.
  • For the second straight game, freshman Kyle Hatcher netted a hat trick and finished the afternoon with three goals and an assist. In the Bears semifinal win over Tampa, Hatcher scored four goals (all in the second half).
  • Toron Eccleston joined Hatcher with three goals and an assist of his own and leads the team with 53 goals on the season. Eccleston is second in team history with his 53 goals on the year, trailing only Joe Buduo who scored 62 in 2018.
  • In front of a sold out crowd, LR struck with the first three goals of the game and never looked back. LR held a 4-1 lead after one quarter and an 8-4 advantage at the break.
  • Making sure to squash any thoughts of a comeback, LR came out and scored the first three goals of the second half to extend the lead to 11-4.
  • Wingate eventually cut the lead to 12-8 but a back-breaking goal from Hatcher with one second on the shot clock put LR back up five at the end of three.
  • LR outscored the Bulldogs 5-2 in the fourth quarter as five different players found the back of the net.
  • Noah Johnson was incredible in goal for LR, making 12 saves to earn his 15th win of the year.
  • Zach Bodeau won 14 of 22 faceoffs and Noah Flasch won 6-of-10 on the day.
  • Victor Powell forced two turnovers to give him 30 on the season, the second-highest total in a single season in team history.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • This was the hottest game of the season for these two teams as temperatures surpassed 90 degrees.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne has beaten the number three, four and five teams in the nation in consecutive games.
  • LR will advance to take on undefeated LeMoyne out of Syracuse, N.Y. who owns a perfect 14-0 mark on the season.
