HICKORY, N.C. -- The Lenoir-Rhyne University Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Nick de Lorme as the new Associate AD for Compliance. Nick joins the Bears after spending the last three years as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio.
"We are excited to bring someone with Nick's background and experience to lead our Rules Compliance Office," said Kim Pate, Vice President for Athletics. "This role is of vital importance to our university and we are thrilled to have Nick at the helm as we look to develop a model compliance program and lead within this ever-changing and dynamic collegiate landscape."
A 2015 graduate of Bowling Green State University (OH), de Lorme also earned his J.D. and Sports Law Certificate in 2018 from the Marquette University Law School (WI). While in law school, he worked for the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a compliance intern. In the summer of 2017, he worked at the NCAA Headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana as an OCOI Extern, where he researched and drafted bench memos and briefs for a special compliance committee to use during hearings.
While at Notre Dame, de Lorme administered all aspects of compliance for 15 NCAA sports and three club sports. His duties included eligibility certification, rules education, financial aid tracking, NLI administration, waiver processing and coach certification. Additionally, de Lorme fulfilled all facets of NDC's NCAA playoff hosting bids, travel plans and reimbursement for numerous sports including football, men's and women's basketball, wrestling and soccer. He created new policies for the athletic department such as a Transgender Student-Athlete policy, a Student-Athlete Social Media policy and a Name, Image and Likeness policy. On top of those duties, de Lorme oversaw and executed game day and facility operations.
In this new role, Nick will take on additional administrative duties including helping to develop and execute the strategic vision and plan for athletics as a part of the senior administrative leadership team. He will also take on sport administrative duties and assist with the development of departmental policies and procedures.
