Romp Helps Bears Sweep Game and Season Series from Catawba

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Lenoir-Rhyne won each set 25-18 to secure the sweep of Catawba and also sweep the three-game season series from Catawba as Colette Romp had a record night. With the South Atlantic Conference going to a divisional format, each team plays one opponent three times. The Bears and Catawba met three times with all three going LR's way by 3-0 finals.

STATS OF THE MATCH:

  • The Bears were firing on all cylinders, especially in the second set. LR finished the frame with a .441 hitting percentage and just one error. For the match, LR outhit Catawba .290 to .062. 
  • LR had a 43-26 advantage in kills and a 7-2 edge in service aces. 
  • Colette Romp was on another level in the match, finishing with a game-high 12 kills and hitting a career-best .706. 
  • Braelyn Faust hit .533 and had four solo blocks in the contest. 
  • Emmaleigh Allen (12), Bailey Carpenter (10) and Ashley Hawkins (10) all finished in double figures in digs.
  • Mackenzie Hulsey handed out 29 assists for LR. 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Romp's hitting percentage is the highest in team history for anyone with at least 12 kills in a match.
  • The Bears are now 10-3 in three-set matches this season.
  • Faust's four solo blocks are the most in the past five seasons for LR.
  • LR has now won a program-record 11 straight matches over Catawba and spoiled the Indians' senior night. 
  • The Bears conclude their regular season road slate with a 6-5 mark.
