HICKORY, N.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team used an 18-2 run in the second half and held Newberry scoreless for a five minute stretch to earn a 23-point victory on Wednesday night in the Shu. The Bears hit a season-high 13 3-pointers in the win and held Newberry to 36.5 percent shooting from the field.

STATS OF THE GAME:
- Lenoir-Rhyne ran out to a 35-24 lead in the first half and never trailed in the opening 20 minutes before taking a 37-32 edge into the break.
- P.J. Joseph was the offensive catalyst for the Bears, coming off the bench to score nine points on 4-of-5 shooting.
- The Bears held a 20-18 edge in rebounds in the first half and shot 48.4 percent (15-for-31) while Newberry hit just 40 percent (12-of-30).

Nas Tyson had seven points and six rebounds in the first half.
- An early spurt for the Wolves evened the contest at 40 but the Bears would respond with an 18-2 spurt to take a 58-42 advantage. Newberry would finally end a five minute scoreless drought with a basket at the 11:13 mark.
- LR would push the lead to as many as 23 which ended up being the final score at 84-61.
- Nesmith finished the game with 24 points on 11-of-15 shooting and
L.J. McCoy hit six 3-pointers on 11 attempts and finished with 18 points.

Nas Tyson had 14 points and seven boards and
Hamilton Campbell handed out eight assists without committing a turnover.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- This is the first of three games between LR and Newberry due to unbalanced scheduling in the league.
- The 84 points were a season-high for the Bears.
- LR finished +9 on the boards tonight against one of the best rebounding teams in the league.
- As a team, LR had 20 assists and just eight turnovers.
