FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - Lenoir-Rhyne baseball will return to Hickory having taken three out of four games in the season-opening series with Emmanuel after the Lions bested the Bears 3-1 in the series finale on Monday afternoon. The LR bullpen pitched 6 2/3 innings on Monday, allowing only four hits and one earned run, but the Bear offense couldn't string enough together to complete the sweep.

STATS AND INFO

• The Lions got all three of its runs in the first three innings, scoring two in the second and one in the third. 
• The lone Bear run came in the top of the 7th inning. Matt Mackey drove in Drew Yniesta for his second RBI of the series. 
• Joey Cobb got the start for the Bears, but it was pitcher by committee after that. 
• Ben Friebel, Austin Blevins, Henry Cartrett, Jackson Reid, Roland Thivierage, Caleb Cockerham and Braden Houston all pitched an inning for LR.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• This was the first loss for LR against Emmanuel in the 10th all-time meeting. 
• Yniesta finished the weekend 8-for-17 with a homer, three doubles and 2 RBIs. 
• Reid, Thivierage, Cockerham, Houston and Cartrett all tossed scoreless innings for LR. 
• This is the last road game for the Bears until March 2. LR's next 13 games are home.
