HICKORY, N.C. - For the second time in five days, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team hosted and defeated a Top-20 team. On Wednesday, the Bears took care of No. 19 Newberry with a 14-10 win.
Joe Venazio and
Evan Voss each had three goals for the Bears in the contest.

STATS OF THE GAME
- First quarter saw the Bears score the first three goals but were held scoreless in the last 11:41 of the quarter while the Wolves scored the next three goals to tie it after fifteen minutes.
- The back-and-forth second quarter saw the Bears have a two-goal lead briefly before the teams traded goals as the Bears took a 6-5 lead into halftime.
- LR had more shot on goals (15) then the Wolves had shots (13) in the first half but only had the one goal advantage.
- LRs defense was the story in the third quarter as they killed two extra man attempts in the quarter and Noah Johnson made five of his eight saves in the quarter which helped the Bears swell their lead to four (11-7) heading into the fourth quarter.
- The Wolves could not get any closer than three goals in the fourth quarter as Joe Venazio scored with 2:47 left to give the Bears a 14-10 win.
- Victor Powell had four caused turnovers while James Brugger and Liam Farrell added three.
- John Paulus went 11-22 on face-offs and added six ground balls.
- The two teams combined to go 2-9 on extra man opportunities.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Bears moved to 5-0 all time against Newberry and tonight's matchup was the first time the Bears faced the Wolves with Newberry ranked.
- Moffat's first assist tonight was his 80th career assist, which moves him into third place all alone in program history.
- Bears move to 60-23 all-time in March.
- LR won their 33rd straight game when leading at halftime.
- Bears move to 2-3 this season against ranked teams and 22-26 all-time.
- Voss had his first career hat trick on the evening.
