JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball won its third straight SAC series on Saturday afternoon with a 9-7 win over Carson-Newman on Saturday.
David Bell,
Erick Ramirez and
Anthony Porrino all went deep to pace the Bears offensively, and LR got a strong start from
Austin Edwards in the victory.

STATS AND INFO
- The Bears hit back-to-back home runs in the 2nd inning, with Bell hitting a two-run shot and Ramirez hitting a solo bomb. It was LR's 4th and 5th homers of the series, and the game was 3-0 at that point.
- The Bears added another run in the 5th on an RBI double from Nick Clarno to make it 4-0.
- LR got three tallies in the 6th, the first on a double from Brayden Collett, who then came around to score on a wild pitch.
- Drew Yniesta had a three-hit game, but he also drove in a run in the 6th with a bases-loaded walk. It was 7-0 after six inning.
- Anthony Porrino hit home run number nine on the season in the 7th, a solo shot that made it 8-0.
- The Eagles got five runs back in the bottom of the 8th, capped off by a three-run homer by Zach Boze.
- The Bears got an insurance run in the top of the 9th from a sac fly from Bell. He had three RBIs today, and has 39 on the season.
- The Eagles got two more in the 9th and brought the tying run to the plate, but Michael Allen closed to the door for his first save of the season.
- Starting pitcher Edwards lasted four innings and gave up just one hit and two walks, and struck out seven. Kanan Butler got the win, pitching a scoreless inning of relief. Braden Houston pitched two scoreless innings of relief, and Allen picked up the save.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- With the win, the Bears clinched their first series win at Carson-Newman since 2003.
- Every win this season from this point on will extend the program record for wins in a season.
- The Bears had 14 more strikeouts on the mound, extending their own single-season SAC record to 517.
- Porrino and Yniesta are now hitting .386 and .385, respectively.
