Box Score HICKORY, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team won its 13th consecutive home match with a five-setter over North Greenville on Tuesday evening. The Bears last loss at home came back in the spring of 2021 and eight of those 13 straight home wins have come in 3-0 fashion.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
- Colette Romp led all Bears with 15 kills and hit .342 on the night to go with three digs and a pair of blocks.
- Ashley Hawkins had 13 kills and a team-high 20 digs with three service aces
- Emmaleigh Allen recorded 12 kills and 11 digs and Rachel Wildermuth had 30 assists and 13 digs.
- The Bears ran out to a 2-0 lead with wins of 25-18 and 25-16 but the Crusaders would win a marathon third set 29-27.
- The guests would grab a 25-20 win to send it to a decisive fifth set.
- With the fifth set tied at three, LR took control with a 4-0 scoring run capped by a Mackenzie Hulsey kill. NGU stopped the run with a point but LR went back-tok-back to grab a 9-4 lead and never looked back.
- A North Greenville attack error ended the match as the Bears moved to 5-3 on the season.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Lenoir-Rhyne is now 5-0 all-time against North Greenville.
- The Crusaders are the second Conference Carolinas team LR has matched up with this year. The Bears dropped an earlier season match to UNC Pembroke.
- The 13 match home winning streak is the longest such run in program history.
- This was the first home win in the LR coaching career of Nicole Barringer.
- The first matchup between LR and North Greenville was in 1980, the only 3-1 win in series history for LR. Three other wins come in straight sets and tonight was the only five-setter.
UP NEXT: LR will return to South Atlantic Conference action when they travel to Catawba on Friday night. The Bears and Indians will play three times in league play this season with the unbalanced SAC schedule.
