Volleyball Rolls Past Coker

HICKORY, N.C..-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team faced little resistance in a 3-0 sweep of Coker on Tuesday night in Shuford Arena. The Bears won by scores of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-14 and 12 different players saw action in the victory. This win also pushed the Bears home winning streak to seven in a row and completed the season sweep of the Cobras.

STATS OF THE MATCH:

  • The Bears got double-digit kill efforts from Aasia McNeill (12) and Emmaleigh Allen (10) on the night and hit .349 as a team. 
  • Cheyenne Clonch added nine kills on 10 total swings for a .900 hitting percentage on the night. 
  • Taylor Osborne totaled five kills and five digs to go with three blocks while Kathy Peter had three kills and six total blocks. 
  • Reigning SAC Offensive Player of the Week Sydney Karjala had 37 assists and nine digs and Lyndsie Warren and Adriana Lane each had seven digs.  
  • Adair Rodemaker had three kills and a block in her time tonight and Anna Beaver added two kills on two swings. 
  • Coker was led by 10 kills from Chelsey Blume but were held to an .081 hitting percentage as a team.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • The Bears have now won 11 straight over the Cobras and own a 24-3 record in the 27 all-time meetings, including a 10-1 record at home.  
  • The Bears haven't lost to Coker since November 11, 2017. 
  • Earlier in the week, Karjala and Peter were named SAC Players of the Week, giving the Bears a total of five SAC Players of the Week on the season. 
  • LR keeps pace atop the SAC standings with this win. LR, Wingate and Anderson all have just one league loss and Tusculum has two. 

UP NEXT: LR will return to action on Friday night when they travel to Emory & Henry for a 6 p.m. contest.
