Track and Field Wins Five Events at Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - In their first event of the 2023-24 campaign, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams dominated the short track at the Commonwealth College Opener. 

Alexis Brown, who came off winning a national championship in the indoor 200-meter dash, registered a first-place time of 23.93 to win the event. In addition, the sophomore took first place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.29. 

While Brown provided a stellar day for the women's team, Nurain Musa had a sparkling display in his first collegiate competition for the men. The freshman complied two first-place finishes with times of 6.73 and 21.61 in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes, respectively. 

In addition to Musa's first-place result in the 60-meter event, Trent Davis II finished third with a time of 6.84 and Sincere Moss finished sixth with a time of 6.98. 

After winning third in the 200-meter dash behind Musa, Marcus Crumpler won his first event of the season in the 400-meter race with a 48.75 posting. Clarence McGill was not too far behind his fellow LR teammate after the sophomore recorded a second-place time of 50.46 in the event. 

The busy day on the track continued for the Bears and especially for Holly Kone with two Top 10 finishes. The junior's best finish was a sixth-place time of 59.51 in the 400-meter race while also finishing tenth in the 200-meter dash with a 25.76 time. 

For in the hurdle events, Sharonda Priester finished fifth in women's 60-meter race with a time of nine seconds while Nick Tibolla came in sixth in the men's 60-meter race with an 8.39 finish.
