HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team recorded their 1400th program victory and completed their first series sweep of the season over Southern Wesleyan as they took both games of the doubleheader.
In the opening game of the doubleheader, the Bears attacked the Warriors early and often with eight runs in the first three innings. Following a 10-strikeout performance by Andrew Patrick, the locked-in bullpen once again held the Warriors to a scoreless stretch. And then to cap off the win, the Bears used a five-run seventh inning to secure a 15-1 win.
During the second time around, for the third time again this weekend wasted no time as they scored eight runs in the first and four in the second to jump out a 12-0 lead. Although his pitch count ran up to 78 pitches in four innings of work, Jackson Reid once again had a dazzling performance on the mound to hold the Warriors to three hits. While the Bears' offense was relatively quiet after the first couple of innings, the combined pitching from the Bears and deficit was too much for the Warriors to overcome in the 16-2 final.
