HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Tennis Team got outplayed by Francis Marion on Sunday to drop to 3-6 on the season.
After the No. 3 doubles team of Connor Gibson and Mattias Selde pulled out their match, 7-5, Gibson was unable to participate in No. 3 singles, which shook the bottom half of the ladder up.
Despite the change, Patrik Alvestrand was able to capture another three-set thriller, 6-3, 6-7, 1-0 at No. 4 singles.
Although Vadym Rogynskyi was not affected by the lineup shift, he still put together the best match of any Bear on the day with a 6-3, 6-0 victory in No. 2 singles.
Outside of those two matches, it was a difficult day for the Bears in singles with Zachary Cox, Mauricio Hernandez, Joel Hemmings and Selde all taking 2-0 defeats.
It will be a short turnaround for the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Tennis Team as they travel to Greensboro, N.C. for their final road non-conference match of the season against North Carolina A&T at 1:00 p.m.
