GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Tennis Team dropped their third straight match on Tuesday to Limestone in 5-2 final.
Although losing their second-straight conference match, it was a much-improved performance for the Bears compared to being swept by Carson-Newman last week.
Four out of the six singles matches went the distance by going to a crucial third set, with both teams splitting the contests. For LR, those matches were No. 4 and No. 6 singles with Rufus Plane and Mattias Selde, respectively.
At the No. 4 line, Plane stormed back after losing the first set, 6-4. The freshman took the next two sets 6-4, 6-2 to win his first singles match of the year.
Meanwhile for Selde, the sophomore was able to avoid throwing away a 1-0 lead. After losing a tight second set, 6-4, the No. 6 singles player returned the favor with a 6-4 win in the third set.
With singles providing the more exciting duels, the Bears struggled in doubles with the Saints sweeping all three matches to earn the point.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Tennis Team will return home to take on Mars Hill on Friday, March 17 at 2:00 p.m.
