HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Tennis Team was outmatched on Sunday, losing to No. 12 ranked Lander, 6-1, at home.
The lone victory of the day belonged to Vadym Rogynskyi at No. 2 singles, with his straight-set victory over Matthew De Groot by a 6-4, 7-6 final.
The freshman also had a thrilling doubles match with Zachary Cox at the No. 1 line, but the pair lost in a tiebreaker, 6-7 (2), to the hands of Markus Sorensen and Nick Beamish.
Like the match against North Carolina A&T on Tuesday, the Bears had little answers to the Bearcats' singles players. In the five matches that Lander won, not a single player dropped a set for them.
In addition to their struggles in singles, the Bears did not have much luck in doubles with a 6-0 defeat at the No. 2 line and 6-1 loss at the No. 3 match.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Tennis Team will return to the court on Wednesday, March 8 as they host Carson-Newman at 1 p.m. The Bears have had a great start to conference play with a 2-0 record, and they look to tally another SAC win against the Eagles at the YMCA of Catawba Valley.
