NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team dropped the winner's bracket matchup against No. 1 seeded Newberry, placing themselves on the brink of elimination.
The Wolves opened the contest with a flashy start as the hosts registered six runs in the first two innings and virtually shut down the LR bats en route to a 6-1 victory.
After playing a clean game yesterday, the Bears had a little trouble on the field with three errors in the early going which did not their cause against the SAC regular season champions.
Four Newberry batters had multi-hit performances as the best hitting offense in the SAC are now one game away from advancing to the championship series.

STATS AND INFO
- Sal Carricato had another big performance at the plate with a 3-for-4 afternoon.
- Tyler McPeak had the Bears' only RBI with a sacrifice fly-out in the top of the third inning.
- Newberry's Bennett Roemer threw a complete game to earn the win. The freshman allowed nine hits and one earned run in his first SAC Tournament outing.
- Joey Cobb received his first loss of the season after he allowed nine hits and four earned runs in six innings pitched.
- Outside of Carricato, there were six LR batters to record a base hit. Blake Bean, Cole Laskowski, Wade Cuda, Cole Stanford, Zach Evans, and McPeak all got aboard with a single.
