HICKORY, N.C. - For the second time this week, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Team took a lead into the half but saw it disappear in the final 20 minutes. This time it was Carson-Newman who stormed back and handed LR a 72-63 defeat at Shuford Arena on Saturday afternoon.

STATS OF THE FIRST HALF:
- The LR defense was the story in the first half, holding Carson-Newman to 25 points.
- However, the C-N defense was also stoudt as the Bears managed just 29 points and led by four at the break.
- The Eagles jumped out to a 10-5 lead just over five minutes into the game but only managed 15 points in the final 14:37 of the first half.
- The Bears took their first lead of the game at the 6:04 mark when Nas Tyson's triple made it 19-18.
- The lead would swell to nine at 29-20 before the Eagles would end the half on a 5-0 spurt.
- Jack Browder had nine for the Eagles as did John Zhao while LR was led by 10 apiece from Tyson and Franklin. Franklin was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field/
STATS OF THE SECOND HALF:
- While the rebounds were even at 15 in the first half, C-N dominated the glass in the second half to lead their comeback. Carson-Newman was +20 on the glass, outrebounding LR 26-6.
- A 9-0 run from the visitors gave C-N a 38-36 edge but Tay Smith evened it at the 12:12 mark with a floater in the lane.
- The game was within one possession for the next 4+ minutes until Carson-Newman went up 50-46 on a second chance bucket from Ren Dyer.
- After LR cut it to two, the Eagles rattled off nine of the next 11 points to grab a 61-52 lead with 3:37 left in the game.
- LR would cut it to four twice but C-N wouldn't let them any closer as they came away with the nine-point win.
- 12 of Carson-Newman's 26 rebounds in the second half were offensive which led to a 13-0 advantage in second chance points in the final 20 minutes.
- Trey Hubbard erupted for 16 points in the second half and Zhao had 13 while Browder added 12.
- LR went just 1-of-10 in the second half from long range.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The Bears also led at the break against Newberry this week before falling by nearly the same final score (71-66).
- Nick Brenegan, the league's second leading scorer, was ruled out with a sickness just before tip off. Brenegan was a week off of a record-breaking 64-point and 18 made threes contest against Newberry.
- The Bears have now dropped six straight to C-N, the longest losing streak in series history.
- Zhao (22) and Browder (21) topped the 20-point mark for C-N.
- Jaquias Franklin led LR with 21 points and five rebounds.
