HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Swimming Team capped off its regular season with a 137-84 dual meet victory Chowan. 
LR swept the relay events with first place times in the 400-yard medley (4:14.33) and 400-freestyle (3:47.44) races. Both events were comprised of Ella Penny, Ann-Cathrine Beissel, Devin Poteat, and Anna Buchert. 
The success registered in the relay races carried over into the individual events, especially with Poteat and Buchert capturing two victories in their respective events. 
Poteat, a native of Denver, N.C., earned victories in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events with times of 1:10.77 and 2:30.90, respectively.  
Buchert, a native of Spartanburg, S.C., took the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.87, which was only six hundredths of a second faster than Chowan's Aislinn Kessinger. In the 200-yard butterfly, Buchert registered a time of 2:18.59 to surpass her teammate, Isabelle Hurd, who recorded a time of 2:28.54. 
Hurd did get her chance in the final event of the day, the 200-yard individual medley. The senior won the event with a time of 2:24.08, beating Chowan's Hiba Laknit by nearly four seconds. 
Another member of the relay team to win an individual event was Penny, who took the top spot in the 200-yard backstroke with a 2:14.03 posting. The sophomore also recorded a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.33, finishing less than a second behind Chowan's Ashley Mayes. 
Olivia DeRosier, a native of Richmond, Va., captured another individual victory for the Bears with a 11:50.14 time in the 1000-yard freestyle. The freshman bested her fellow teammate and freshman Jenna Malave, who finished second with a time of 12:12.58. 
The Bears also stacked up second-place finishes with Trinity Price in the 200-yard freestyle and Sydney Huffman in the 500-yard freestyle. Price, a native of Kings Mountain, N.C., was second to Chowan's Lina Danna with a time of 2:08.93. Huffman, a native of Hickory, N.C., finished with a time of 6:13.52 behind Chowan's Danna, who recorded a 5:53.89 posting. 
The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Swimming Team will return to the pool for the SAC Championships, slated to take place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center from Feb. 14-17 in Greensboro, N.C.
