GREENSBORO, N.C. - As the 2024 SAC Swimming Championships come to an end, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Swimming Team finished fifth with a score of 575 points.
On the final day of the conference championships, LR's best finish was in the 400-yard freestyle relay when the group of Anna Buchert, Devin Poteat, Ann-Cathrine Beissel, and Trinity Price recorded a fourth-place finish with a time of 3:39.06
For the individual events, Devin Poteat secured a ninth-place overall finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with her time of 2:24.10, which was also good enough to win the "B" race.
That was not the only LR swimmer to win a race in the 200-yard breaststroke as Olivia DeRosier took the top spot in the "C" race with a 2:32.28 result.
The Richmond, Va. native finished 17th in the overall event and outperformed her teammates, Dana Watson and Emma Nash, who recorded 21st and 23rd placements with their respective times of 2:41.52 and 2:55.68.
In the 200-yard backstroke event, Price registered a time of 2:19.86. While the Kings Mountain N.C. native rounded out the Top 15 with her time, Sydney Huffman rounded out the Top 20 with a time of 2:28.73.
For the 100-yard freestyle competition, LR had three participants who competed in the "C" race. Beissel had the best time amongst her teammates as the freshman finished 18th with a time of 55.53.
Also racing for the Bears were Jenna Malave and Katherine Hudson. Malave, who finished 20th, tallied a time of 57.05, while Hudson, who finished just behind Malave for 21st, recorded a 57.21 result.
The 2024 SAC Women's Swimming Champions are the Wingate Bulldogs. The top team in the conference recorded a final score of 1894 points, which was over 300 points better than runner-up Carson-Newman, who finished with 1557 points.

DAY THREE RECAP
As the 2024 SAC Swimming Championships reach its final day, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Swimming Team holds fourth place with a 455 score.
Coming off her third-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley on Thursday, Buchert registered another Top 10 finish with an eighth-place result in the 500-yard freestyle.
The freshman recorded a time of 5:09.14 as she competed in the "A" race in the event. Joining Buchert in the competition was Malave and Isabelle Hurd, who finished 20th and 22nd with times of 5:31.63 and 5:36.94, respectively.
In addition to competing in the 500-yard freestyle, Buchert recorded a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with her time of 2:09.74.
While the time was good enough to win the "B" race, she posted better times than Beissel, who tallied a time of 2:18.95 to finish 14th, and Hurd who tallied a time of 2:20.50 to finish 15th. Watson, who produced a time of 2:31.88, rounded out the Top 20.
Adding to her two individual races, Buchert was a part of the 800-yard freestyle relay team alongside Poteat, DeRosier and Price. The four-woman team notched a time of 8:06.40 to finish sixth in the event.
For Poteat and DeRosier, the pair also competed in the 100-yard breaststroke event. Poteat, the sophomore out of Denver, N.C., recorded a time of 1:07.40 to finish 12th in the event, as for DeRosier, the freshman from Richmond, Va., finished 18th with a 1:09.06 result.
As for Price, the sophomore registered a time of 1:03.59 in the 100-yard backstroke to win the "C" race and finish 17th overall, edging out teammate Nash, who finished 18th with a time of 1:09.93.
Despite the two performances, neither representative had the best time for the Bears, as Hudson finished 15th at 1:02.07 in the "B" race.
DAY TWO RECAP
As the 2024 SAC Swimming Championships reach the halfway mark, the LR Women's Swimming Team holds onto its fifth-place position with a score of 277.5 points.
Buchert recorded the best time out of any LR participant through the first two days of the conference championships with a third-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley.
The freshman from Spartanburg, S.C. led the field for the Bears with a time of 4:33.13. Following Buchert was DeRosier and Hurd, who finished 13th and 22nd with times of 4:43.91 and 4:53.71, respectively.
In the 200-yard freestyle event, Poteat took the top spot in the "C" final with a time of 1:56.97 to finish 17th overall in the field. Also competing in the specific race were Price and Huffman, who finished 21st and 24th with times of 2:04.09 and 2:09.98, respectively.
For the 100-yard butterfly, the Bears had four participants who competed in the "C" final of the event. Beissel had the fastest time out of the bunch with an 18th-place result of 59.99.
Other swimmers in the race included Hudson, who had a 20th-place finish with her time of 1:01.66. Finishing back-to-back for the Bears were Malave and Watson, who had times of 1:05.74 and 1:05.86 to record overall finishes of 23rd and 24th.
To wrap up the second day of the events, LR took a fifth-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley relay with a time of 4:07.03. The four-woman team was comprised of Hudson, Poteat, Beissel, and Buchert.
DAY ONE RECAP
Through the first day of the 2024 SAC Swimming Championships, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Swimming Team has a fourth-place score of 155.
The women's 200-yard medley relay "A" team had the best finish out of all LR performances with a fifth-place time of 1:56.83. The four-woman team was comprised of Price, DeRosier, Beissel, and Hurd.
For the women's 200-yard freestyle relay, the LR "A" team recorded a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:47.54. This group was made up of Nash, Hudson, and DeRosier.
Sandwiched between the two relay events were three individual finals: the 50-yard and 1000-yard freestyles in addition to the 200-yard individual medley.
The busiest field for the Bears was the 1000-yard freestyle, led by Buchert, who finished eighth with a time of 10:36.92. The freshman from Spartanburg, S.C. had the best individual time of the day for all LR participants.
Also competing in the 100-yard freestyle was Malave, Hurd and Price, who finished 20th, 21st and 24th, respectively.
Malave, the Cumming, Ga. native finished with a time of 11:22.62, edging out her teammate, Hurd, who recorded a 11:26.06 result. Meanwhile, Price got into the Top 25 with her time of 11:34.26.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Poteat recorded a time of 2:09.53 in the "B" final to capture an 11th overall finish in the event. Meanwhile, DeRosier finished with a time of 2:12.94 in the "C" final to come just short of the Top 20 with a 21st place finish.
For the 50-yard freestyle, Hudson was the lone competitor for the Bears and recorded a time of 26.07 in the "C" final to finish 20th.
