Dahlberg's late goal propels Bears to 2-1 win over Anderson

HICKORY, NC - Just when it looked like the Bears and Trojans were headed for a draw, Oskar Dahlberg scored a Sportscenter Top Ten worthy bicycle kick goal to give Lenoir-Rhyne a big 2-1 victory over Anderson. This win keeps the Bears in a tie for second place in the South Atlantic Conference Standings.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • It was an uneventful first half, as the teams went into the break locked at 0-0. 
  • Anderson's Juan Pablo Lepervanche opened the scoring with a penalty kick goal in the 54th minute. 
  • Just 30 seconds later, Ido Omaysi drove down the line and fed the ball to Raul Canas, who buried it in the back of the net.
  • Tomas Fontes made multiple great saves in a 20-minute span, keeping the game locked at one.
  • Omaysi found Dahlberg in the 84th minute for the game changing goal, giving him his second assist of the game.
  • Dahlberg's goal was the decider, as Anderson failed to score in the final six minutes of play.
  • Anderson had a 13-10 shot advantage, but LR led 6-5 in shots-on-goal.
  • Both goalkeepers made four saves in the game.
  • There were a combined 25 fouls and eight yellow cards in the contest.
