HICKORY, NC -- After setting a program record 13-0 record to start the season, The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team suffered their first setback of the season, falling to Wingate 3-1 on Wednesday evening inside Shuford Arena.
Kayli Cleaver lead the Bears with 13 kills while
Sydney Karjala had a double-double with 19 assists and 12 digs. Lenoir-Rhyne will look to rebound with a trip to Lincoln Memorial on Saturday.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
- The Bears raced out to a 24-14 lead in the first set before Wingate scored five straight points. Cleaver's sixth kill of the set give the Bears the 1-0 advantage.
- Wingate did not get their first lead in the second set until 18-17, but the Bulldogs tied it up at a set a piece with a 25-22 win in the second set.
- Wingate lead wire to wire for a 25-16 win in set three.
- The Bears were in control of the 4th set up, eventually going up 20-16. Wingate scored nine of the game's last 11 points to steal the set and claim the victory.
- Cleaver had 13 kills to lead the Bears while Jenna Vogen (9) and Kiley Redfern (8) weren't far behind.
- Four Bears had double digit digs, led by 14 from Hadley Prince
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Bears have now lost six straight games against Wingate.
- With the SAC rotation this year, this will be the only matchup between these two teams in the regular season.
- Lenoir-Rhyne will play Coker, Catawba and Anderson twice this season and everyone else in the SAC once.
- Both teams had 10 blocks tonight.
