STATS AND INFO:

  • This is just the second time in Shena Hollar's 25-year tenure that Lees-McRae earned a win. Hollar is now 24-2 all-time against Lees-McRae. This is also the first home loss to the Bobcats.
  • The teams have split the past two doubleheaders but LR won the first 22 in the series.
  • LR is in the midst of a six-game home stand this week.
GAME ONE INFO:
  • Addison was the standout in the opener as she struck out 11 LR batters and allowed just a solo home run to Julia Mardigian in the sixth inning.
  • Lauren Ritchie hit a 2-run bomb to center field to put the Bobcats up 2-0 in the sixth inning as Addison and Lauren Rakes put up five zeroes each.
  • Mardigian erased the shutout bid with a solo shot before Addison did some work at the plate. Her solo HR in the seventh just snuck over the fence to put LMC up 3-1.
  • The Bears had a runner on second and no one out in the seventh before Addison retired the final three batters.
  • The play of the game came in the sixth as Lora Beth Wood came up with two outs and two runners on with the Bears trailing by one. She lined a shot to right-center but CF Destiny Brown made a running catch to rob Wood of extra bases.
  • The two teams each had four hits in the game.
GAME TWO INFO:
  • The Bears broke out the bats in game two as they scored in each of their five at bats.
  • LR scored on an error in the first to take a 1-0 lead and added three runs in the second inning as Katelyn Rackard, Madison Wilson and Mardigian drove in runs.
  • LMC added two unearned runs to make it 4-2 but the Bears would score the final six of the game.
  • Cassidy Wall knocked in one with a sacrifice fly and Lora Beth Wood drove in a pair with a double and came around to score on an Adda Prescott base hit.
  • Wood would walk it off in the bottom of the fifth with two outs and LR up six. Wood's base hit plated two and invoked the mercy rule.
  • Wood finished with 5 RBI and went 2-for-4 while Wilson went 4-for-4 with four runs scored.
  • The Bears had 14 hits in 29 at bats.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • In a tale of two games, the LR offense struck out 11 times in game one but none in the finale.
  • The Bears scored 10 runs in game two without a home run but got the only run of the game in the opener on a long ball.
  • Wilson added two stolen bases in game two to go with her four hits and four runs.
  • The Bears stole five bases in the two games today.
